Lamona LAM2952 90cm Stainless Steel Cubic Motor Ceiling Cooker Hood

SKU LAM2952

A flush ceiling extractor, 868mm wide, that sits in the ceiling above an island rather than hanging over it. Nothing drops into your eyeline and nothing interrupts the sightline across the room — which is the whole reason to spend this much on extraction.

This is the cubic motor version, and it is the better of the two ceiling hoods we sell: A+ rated, 46dB, a native Ø150mm circular outlet, and rated for recirculation as well as ducting. It costs the same as the compact-motor LAM2951. Unless your ceiling void is too shallow for it, this is the one to buy.

549 m³/h with a 634 m³/h boost, four 2W LEDs at 2700K, three speeds plus boost and a run-on timer. At 33.9 kWh a year it uses barely half the electricity of its sibling.

Why you cannot buy this direct. Lamona is Howdens' own brand and Howdens sell only to trade account holders. We hold the account, so you can buy the same appliance without one.

Before you order — a ceiling hood is a building job, not an appliance swap

  • Ceiling cut-out: 485mm × 845mm. Plan to this figure.
  • Ceiling thickness must be between 18mm and 35mm.
  • The unit is 319mm deep. Your ceiling void has to take that. If it will not, the LAM2951 is 195mm deep at the same price.
  • Height above the hob: minimum 650mm over gas, minimum 600mm over electric, maximum 1600mm over either.
  • Outlet: Ø150mm circular. Howdens publish no duct size on their web specification — we took this from their installation manual for this exact model, where it is printed on the external dimensions drawing as the outlet connection nozzle.
  • It is hard wired on a 10A supply. No plug.

Installation

Ceiling mounted, ducted externally or recirculated internally. Because it carries its own weight from the ceiling structure, this is a job to plan with your fitter before the ceiling is closed up rather than afterwards. We can send you the Howdens installation manual on request — on this product we would encourage it.

Two things on Howdens' own data, stated plainly

Howdens' description quotes an extraction rate this hood does not have. Their copy says 650 m³/h. This hood's own specification gives 549 m³/h with a 634 m³/h boost, and 650 is in fact the boost figure belonging to the LAM2951 — the description appears to have been copied across from its sibling. We have quoted this hood's own figures above.

Howdens' lighting row is mislabelled. Their page says Light Wattage (Per Bulb): 8W with four lights, which would be 32W. All three Howdens manuals say 4 × 2W LED — so 8W is the total. Their page also gives a colour temperature range of 2700K–4000K where the manuals say a fixed 2700K, so we would not rely on the lights being tunable.

LAM2952 or LAM2951?

They cost the same and share a chassis, a width and a depth. This LAM2952 is the better appliance — A+ against B, 46dB against 51dB, a native Ø150mm circular outlet against a rectangular 89 × 222mm one, and explicitly rated for recirculation as well as ducting. The only reason to choose the LAM2951 is ceiling void: it is 195mm deep against this unit's 319mm. If your void takes 319mm, buy this one.
