A black pendant extractor that hangs over an island like a light fitting rather than looking like an appliance. It is a compact cube on a drop, height-adjustable anywhere between 364mm and 1300mm, and it is as much a decorative object as an extractor — which is the reason to buy it.

Read this first — two things Howdens' own listing gets wrong
1. It cannot be ducted outside. This is a recirculating hood only. Howdens' specification says Venting Type: Recirculated, and their installation manual is explicit: “This appliance is designed for internal air recirculation and therefore does not require or use external ducting.” Their separate spec sheet muddies this by printing an outlet spigot diameter, a ducting kit diameter and a ducted airflow range — we believe those are inherited template fields, because the manual that ships in the box says the opposite. Buy this only if you are happy to recirculate. If you need to vent outside, tell us and we will point you at a hood that does.
2. It is 420mm wide, not 45cm. Howdens' page title says 45cm. Their own specification says 420mm, and their dimensioned spec sheet confirms 420mm wide by 420mm deep. It is a 42cm pendant. We have kept Howdens' title above so you can match this listing to their catalogue, but plan your island around 420mm.

Installation
Ceiling mounted on an adjustable drop. There is no ducting to run, which is what makes a pendant practical over an island in the middle of a room — but it also means the air is filtered and returned rather than removed, so carbon filters matter more here than on a ducted hood.
Three more things on Howdens' own data
The carbon filters may or may not be in the box. Howdens' page and spec sheet both say Carbon Filter: Required for Recirculation — Included, and list 2 non-washable carbon filters. Their installation manual says carbon filters are “supplied separately” and can be ordered from a Howdens depot as part LAM2004. We cannot reconcile those, so we are not promising filters are included. Ask us before you order and we will confirm.
The extraction figures do not agree. Howdens' page shows a boost of 720 m³/h; their own spec sheet caps this hood at 600 m³/h. In recirculating mode — the only mode the manual supports — the published range is 310–370 m³/h, which is what we have quoted. We would rather quote the conservative figure than the flattering one.
Howdens' description says “four fan speeds”. Their specification says three plus a boost, and the manual describes speeds 1, 2 and 3. It is three speeds and a boost.
One last note for anyone searching: Howdens' model number field for this product reads LAM2583, digits transposed, and the transposition is carried into their own spec sheet. The correct product code is LAM2853.
