A 900mm curved-glass island hood in stainless steel, made to hang over an island rather than sit against a wall. The curved glass canopy is the point of it — it is the visible object in the middle of the room, and at 900mm it covers a five-zone hob or a range top rather than just the front two burners.
Three speeds, four 1.5W LED lights at 6500K, and a genuinely quiet recirculating mode at 33–48dB.
Why you cannot buy this direct. Lamona is Howdens' own brand and Howdens sell only to trade account holders. We hold the account, so you can buy the same appliance without one.
Read this first — it fixes to the CEILING, and Howdens' own page says otherwise
Howdens' specification says Fitting Type: Wall Mounted and their description calls it “wall-mounted”. Both are wrong. We read the Howdens installation manual for this exact model (its cover names LAM2852 and no other), and the fitting sequence is unambiguously a ceiling installation: you place a template on the ceiling above the hob, secure a ceiling bracket, then hang the hood on four angle irons dropped from that bracket. There is no wall bracket and no wall fixing step anywhere in it.
That changes what you need to have in place, so please check both of these before ordering:
- Your ceiling must be able to carry more than 120kg. That is Howdens' stated requirement, not the weight of the hood (the hood is 28.2kg) — it is the load-bearing figure for the fixing.
- The ceiling must be at least 30mm thick.
It is a rigid angle-iron drop, not a suspension-wire kit, so the drop length is set at installation rather than adjusted afterwards. We can send you the installation manual before you order — on an island hood this is worth reading first.

Filters and ducting
A carbon filter is required if you recirculate and is not supplied. Howdens' installation manual describes both a ducted mode (no carbon filter needed) and a recirculating mode (carbon filter needed), so the hood does both.
Howdens publish no duct diameter for this model. Their manual says only to cut a 170mm hole in the ceiling if you are ducting, to keep the duct run short and straight, and not to reduce its diameter. The 170mm figure is a ceiling aperture, not a duct size. We are asking Howdens for the spigot diameter — ask us before you buy ducting.
Two more things on Howdens' own data
Three different extraction figures exist for this hood. Howdens' specification says 557 m³/h, their description says 420 m³/h, and their EU product fiche gives a maximum airflow of 528.1 m³/h. We have quoted the specification above because that is the field the specification is for, but we are not going to pretend the other two do not exist. All three are comfortably enough for a domestic island hob; if the exact figure matters to you, ask us and we will get it confirmed.
The filter rows do not read correctly. Howdens list Number of Carbon Filters: 1 x Washable Filter and publish no grease filter row at all. Carbon filters are not washable, so we think that row is describing the grease filter and has been mislabelled — but that is our reading, not Howdens' statement, so we are not claiming a filter count either way. Ask us and we will confirm what is in the box.
