The LAM2804 is a T-box hood, which is worth explaining because the name tells you nothing. In plan it makes a T: a narrow 210mm chimney stack rising out of a full-width canopy spanning 900mm wide by 450mm deep. You get a wide catchment area over the hob with only a slim column running up the wall, so it reads much lighter in the room than a conventional box chimney of the same size. Three washable grease filters cover the span, and the outlet reducer is included, which is unusual at this price.
Before you order, three things to check
- It is a 90cm hood and it is wall mounted. You need 900mm of clear wall and 450mm of projection. The telescopic chimney covers 450 to 830mm of height, so measure from the hob surface to the ceiling and check that range covers it.
- Recirculation costs you well over half the airflow on this model. Howdens publish 260 to 398 cubic metres an hour ducted, but only 130 to 170 recirculating. On a 900mm hood that is not enough air. Only buy this one if you can duct it to an outside wall.
- The recirculation carbon filter is not included and Howdens give no filter part code on the page. If you must recirculate, ask us and we will get the correct code from Howdens first. The outlet reducer is included, but Howdens publish no duct outlet diameter for this model, so contact us before buying ducting to match.
It is hard wired on a 5A supply with a 1.5m lead and no plug fitted. Three speeds, no boost. Lighting is a single 2W LED at 6500K natural white.
A note on Howdens' own description of this product. We have written the copy above ourselves because the description on Howdens' website is wrong in four separate places: it calls the hood 60cm when it is 900mm wide, says a carbon filter is supplied when the specification says it is not included, says two LED lights when the specification says one, and describes a low noise level on what is in fact the loudest hood in this range. We have gone with the specification table throughout. If any of it matters to your installation, ask us and we will confirm with Howdens before you order.

Howdens publish a headline Extraction Rate of 426 cubic metres an hour, which is above the top of their own ducted range of 260 to 398, and there is no boost setting to account for the gap. We have reproduced both rows exactly as published, and we would treat 398 cubic metres an hour as the realistic ducted maximum. We have asked Howdens to resolve it.
