The LAM2379 is the quiet one. It is an integrated canopy hood that hides inside a 600mm wall cabinet, and it is Quiet Mark certified at 61dB with grease efficiency rated A rather than the C you get on a standard canopy. It moves 491 cubic metres an hour, 590 on boost, on a motor drawing only 122W, and it carries a filter replacement indicator so you are told when the grease filters need washing rather than having to remember.
If you are comparing it with our cheaper LAM2377 canopy, the difference is not extraction power, it is refinement: Quiet Mark certification and 5dB less noise, grease efficiency A instead of C, two washable grease filters instead of one, a filter change indicator, colour-adjustable lighting from 2700K warm to 4000K cool, and roughly double the build weight. Howdens publish no motor specification for either, so we make no claim about the motor.
Before you order, three things to check
- It needs a 600mm cabinet. Howdens give a Minimum Cabinet Size of 600mm. The unit is 557mm wide, 350mm high and 280mm deep and sits inside the carcase. Howdens publish no separate aperture figure.
- The recirculation carbon filter is not included and nor is the outlet reducer. Howdens' specification reads Carbon Filter: Required for Recirculation - Not Included. The matching Howdens filter is LAM2014; ask us and we will source it with the hood. We are deliberately not quoting a pack quantity, because Howdens' own filter page contradicts itself on how many are in the pack and we are getting that confirmed.
- Howdens do not publish a duct outlet diameter for this model. The 90cm version of the same hood, LAM2380, publishes 150mm, but that is not evidence for this one and we will not carry a figure across. If you are buying ducting to match, contact us first.
The remote control is not included. Howdens do not state this in words on the product page: the specification lists Connectivity: Infrared and, in the remote control field, Supplied With: Available Separately. The matching remote is sold by Howdens under its own code, LAM2075. That is our reading of it rather than a Howdens statement, so if a remote matters to you, ask us and we will confirm before you order. One thing worth knowing: the hood page says Infrared while the remote's own page says Radio Frequency, and we have asked Howdens which is right.
It is hard wired on a 10A supply with a 1.65m lead and no plug fitted.

Note that Howdens publish the same figures for ducted and recirculating extraction, 307 to 491 cubic metres an hour. On most hoods recirculation performs below ducted, so we would expect real-world recirculating performance to be lower. Ducting to an outside wall is always the better installation where it is possible.
