The Nevola is the tallest budget tap Howdens make — 390mm to the top of the arc, with a 222mm reach — so it clears a tall stockpot or a roasting tin in a way most taps at this price cannot. In matt black on a curved swan neck it reads as a considered choice rather than a cheap one, which is the whole point of it.
It will run on almost any water system. Rated 0.3-5 bar and classed by Howdens as suitable for low to high pressure systems, so it works on a gravity-fed tank as well as on mains or combi pressure.
Practical detail worth knowing before you order. One tap hole with a 50mm footprint, and a generous 53mm maximum sink and worktop thickness, so it is comfortable on a thick composite sink or a solid timber top. It is supplied with flexi tails, fittings and an instruction leaflet, on a ½" BSP female thread. The aerator is a replaceable 6mm insert — a cheap spare part rather than a new tap if it furs up — and the valve is a ceramic disc cartridge. Note that Howdens specify a flow straightener rather than the Neoperl honeycomb aerator used across the Lynstone and Rienza ranges, so the stream is a solid column of water rather than an aerated one.
Two differences from the rest of the budget range, stated plainly. Howdens list this tap as CE Marked and compliant with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, but they do not list it as WRAS Approved, and the 5 year manufacturer's guarantee is not accompanied by a separate surface finish warranty as it is on the Lynstone and Rienza taps. If either matters to you, the Lynstone matt black mixer (TAP3432) carries both. As with any matt black finish, clean with a damp cloth rather than a cream cleaner or a limescale spray.
