The LAM7202 is a 17 litre, 700W built-in microwave designed to sit at eye level in a shallow wall cabinet. It is the plainest machine in the Lamona range and deliberately so: push-button and rotary controls, five power levels, a defrost programme, a child lock and an LED clock display. No grill, no touch panel, nothing to go wrong.
Before you order, three things to check
- Despite the name, it does not hang on a wall bracket. Howdens title it Wall Mounted but the specification says Fitting Type: Built In, and it fits inside cabinetry. What Howdens mean is that it is designed to be built into a wall unit at eye level rather than a base or tall unit. If you were expecting a bracket-hung microwave, this is not it.
- The aperture is only 285mm deep. Cut-out is 362mm high by 560mm wide by 285mm deep. That is a shallow wall cabinet. It will not fill a standard 500mm-deep tall housing aperture, which is what most built-in microwaves need. Check which kind of cabinet you have before ordering.
- It is a small, basic machine. 17 litres of capacity, a 24.5cm turntable, 700W of microwave power, no grill and no timer facility. If you want to brown or crisp anything, or you regularly heat a full dinner plate, look at our LAM7302 instead, which gives 25 litres and a 1000W grill.
It runs on a fitted 13A plug with a 1.3m lead, so no electrician is needed provided there is a socket in the cabinet. The door opens to the left.

The body stands 20mm taller and 32mm deeper than the aperture because the fascia sits proud of the cabinet face, which is normal for a built-in. Howdens do not state whether a trim or framing kit is needed, so we cannot confirm either way; ask us and we will check.
