The LAM1114 is a four-burner stainless steel gas hob for a 600mm cabinet run. The burners are deliberately mismatched rather than four of the same size: one simmer burner, one rapid burner and two standard, so a stockpot and a milk pan can be run alongside each other. The pan supports are cast iron rather than pressed steel, which is what keeps a heavy pan sitting flat, and ignition is automatic with a flame failure device fitted.
Before you order, three things to check
- The worktop cut-out is 560mm wide by 480mm deep. The hob itself measures 595 x 510mm, so it overlaps the aperture by roughly 17mm on each side.
- Worktop thickness. Howdens' product page states a 20mm minimum, but Howdens' own installation manual for this hob states 25 to 45mm. The two disagree, so we have quoted both rather than picking one. We would build to 25 to 45mm. If your worktop is thinner than 25mm or thicker than 45mm, please contact us before ordering.
- It is hard wired, not plugged in. The 1.1m mains lead has no plug fitted and needs a 3A supply through a double pole switched fused spur. Gas connection and commissioning must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
The installation manual also calls for a minimum of 170mm from each side of the hob to any vertical surface such as a wall, a tall unit or a window reveal. The product page lists only the 50mm front and rear clearances, so this is the one that catches people out on a corner run.
Gas type. The hob is supplied set for natural gas at G20, 20 mbar. An LPG conversion kit is included in the box, and the conversion must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
