A 9kg freestanding heat pump tumble dryer in white. The same machine as the black FLM8802 in a white finish — Howdens' specifications for the two are identical on every single row except colour and model number, so choose on finish alone.
Two things matter about it: the drum is big enough to dry a full 9kg wash load in one go, and it is a heat pump dryer, which is what makes it cheap to run and means it does not need a vent.
You cannot buy Lamona without a Howdens trade account. We have one, so you can.
Why heat pump matters
A vented or condenser dryer heats air with an element and throws the heat away. A heat pump recycles it, running at a much lower temperature. The number that shows it: maximum input power 1000W, against the 2.5kW or more a conventional dryer draws. Over a few hundred loads that is a real difference on a bill, and the lower temperature is gentler on clothes.
It also means no venting — no hole in the wall, no hose out of a window. You can put it anywhere there is a socket.
The trade-off, and you should know it before you buy: heat pump dryers take longer per cycle than a vented dryer, and the water they extract collects in a tank inside the machine which you have to empty. There is a full-tank indicator to tell you when. Howdens publish no plumbed-drain option for this model, so assume emptying the tank is part of using it.
About that A+ rating
This dryer is rated A+, with an estimated 336kWh a year. Worth being straight about what that means: tumble dryers are still rated on the older A+++ to D scale, not the current A–G scale washing machines use. So an A+ here is not "better than" the A on our FLM8702 and FLM8703 washing machines — they are different scales and cannot be compared. Within the dryer scale, A+ on a heat pump is a good rating.
What it does
Howdens' specification row says 15 programmes. They name thirteen: Extra Dry, Cupboard Dry, Iron Dry, Delicate, Quick Dry, Baby Care, Duvet, Sports, Mixed Load, Wool, DryFresh, Express and Shirts. We are quoting both figures rather than the flattering one, and we will not name programmes Howdens have not named — note in particular that their description mentions drying cottons, but there is no cotton programme in the published list.
There is a drying sensor, so it stops when the load is dry rather than running a fixed time; an anti-crease phase; an iron-dry setting; a childlock; and a delay timer. Howdens publish the delay feature but no maximum delay period, so we are not going to quote you one.
The door opens to the left, which is worth checking against your washing machine, since both our Lamona washing machines open to the right. It runs at 65dB and has a fitted plug with a 1.5m lead, so no electrician is needed.
The matching washing machine
Pair this with the white FLM8702 9kg 1400rpm washing machine — same finish, same 9kg capacity, so a full wash dries in one cycle rather than two. One point of caution if you plan to stack them: Howdens' laundry stacking kits name only the black FLM8703 and FLM8802 in their published compatibility data and say nothing about the white pair. Ask us before you buy a kit and we will get that confirmed.

Howdens publish installation dimensions identical to the machine's own body — 845 × 596 × 609mm — so they publish no clearance allowance at all. Treat those as body dimensions, not as a gap: allow a little more than 596mm in width so it can be slid in and levelled, and remember it is 609mm deep, a little deeper than a standard 600mm worktop run. Ask us for the installation manual before you build anything around it and we will send it.

One small thing worth knowing: the user manual Howdens attach to this white model's page is titled for the black FLM8802. It is the correct manual — the two machines are the same appliance — but the document title says black. Ask us and we will send you the right paperwork.
Every specification figure above is reproduced from Howdens' own published data. Where their data contradicts itself we have said so rather than pick the number that reads better.
