A note on the spin speed — it is 1400rpm, not 1330
Some trade paperwork for this code describes it as a 1330rpm machine. It is not. Howdens' product title, their Maximum Spin Speed specification row and their own category listing all say 1400rpm, the same as the white version. If you have seen 1330 quoted anywhere, that figure is wrong.
Read this first — the space it needs
The machine is 845mm high × 597mm wide × 582mm deep on four adjustable feet.
Howdens publish installation dimensions identical to the machine's own body — 845 × 597 × 582mm — which means they publish no clearance allowance at all. Treat those as body dimensions, not as a gap. Allow a gap a little wider than 597mm so the machine can be slid in and levelled, and real depth behind it for the inlet hose and the waste. Ask us for the installation manual before you build anything around it.
What it does
Howdens' specification row says 15 programmes; their description says fourteen; and they name fourteen: Cottons, Economy, Pre-Wash, Cold Wash, Colours, Wool, Rinse, Allergy Safe, Spin and Drain, Handwash, Outdoor, Duvet, Denim and Fast60. We are quoting all of that rather than picking the flattering number.
The Outdoor and Denim programmes are this machine's advantage over the white one — the white FLM8702's published programme list has neither, and has Quick Wash and Dark Care instead. If muddy kit and heavy cottons are the problem you are solving, this is the one.
There is a 12 minute quick wash, a delay timer (Howdens publish no maximum delay period, so we are not quoting one), a childlock, fuzzy logic, automatic load detection and unbalanced load detection. Temperature range is published as 20°C to 90°C. The door opens to the right. Cold fill, supplied with a hose.
Running costs and noise
Energy rating A — the top of the current washing-machine scale — at 39kWh per 100 cycles. Howdens also publish an Estimated Annual Energy Consumption of 151kWh on this page, and we should be straight with you: those two figures do not reconcile. 39kWh per 100 cycles works out at about 86kWh over the 220 cycles a year the energy label assumes, not 151. Both are reproduced below as published; the A rating itself is not in doubt.
It is a loud machine at 74dB, with a B noise rating — normal for a 1400rpm spin, but worth knowing before you put it in an open-plan kitchen rather than a utility.
