A full-size 14-place-setting dishwasher you stand in a gap rather than build in, in black. It needs water, waste and a socket — nothing else. No cabinet door to buy, no fascia to fit, no aperture to cut, and it comes with you if you move.
This is the only freestanding dishwasher Lamona make, and Howdens do not offer it in white. You cannot buy Lamona without a Howdens trade account. We have one, so you can.
Read this first — the gap it needs
The machine is 598mm wide, 598mm deep and 850–870mm high on its four adjustable feet, so it will sit under a standard worktop.
Ignore Howdens' published "Installation Dimension Width" of 570mm. It is 28mm narrower than the appliance's own body, which is physically impossible, and we are not going to reprint it as a fitting figure. Plan your gap on the 598mm body width with a little to spare so the machine can be slid in and levelled, and allow room in front for the door to drop open. The published installation depth of 600mm against a 598mm body is sensible and consistent; it is only the width figure that is wrong. Ask us for the installation manual before you commit to a gap and we will send it.
What it will hold and how it washes
14 place settings and a maximum plate diameter of 32cm, which is the number that decides whether your dinner plates actually fit. The upper basket is height adjustable and both baskets have folding tines, so you can drop the top basket for tall glasses or fold the tines flat for pans. There is a cutlery tray rather than a basket.
The interior is stainless steel, the filter is removable, and there is an anti-flood device and an overflow detection system. Salt and rinse-aid levels show on the programme display.
Automatic door opening is the feature worth having here: at the end of the cycle the door releases itself so the load air-dries instead of steaming. There is a 24-hour delay start, a childlock, and six temperature settings. There is no interior light and no soft-close door.
Programmes — and a count that does not add up
Howdens name twelve programmes on this machine: Save+ 5.4L, Steam, Smart 30°C–70°C, Dual Pro Wash 60°C, Quick Wash, Silent, Half Load, Tablet, Hygiene, Extra Fast, Energy Save and Self Clean. Their own specification row, on the same page, says Number of Programmes: 9, and their description says twelve.
We are quoting all of that rather than picking the flattering number. Twelve are named, so twelve exist as far as we can tell — but if the exact programme count matters to you, ask us and we will confirm with the depot before you order. Note also that Howdens advertise a 30-minute quick wash in a features row but do not say which of "Quick Wash" and "Extra Fast" it is, so we cannot tell you the duration of either.
Running costs and noise
Energy rating C, 75kWh per 100 cycles, an estimated 214kWh a year, and 9 litres of water per cycle — less than most people use washing up by hand. It runs at 44dB with a B noise rating, which is quiet enough to run in the evening in an open-plan room but not silent.
It is a cold-fill machine with a fitted plug and a 1.65m mains lead, and wants a water pressure between 0.3 and 10 bar.
